At the food production plant, a blend of wastewater and softened water was recovered with a two-stage RO system, reducing water consumption and discharge load for sustainable production.
Challenge
Döhler's Karaman plant aimed to reduce fresh-water use by recovering a blend of process wastewater and softened water. In recovery systems the feed water is variable and loaded, so scale and organic fouling threaten production continuity.
Solution
Deren Kimya modeled a two-stage RO recovery system with FilmTec BW30HR-440i membranes and established the membrane-protection strategy with the DERSCALANT antiscalant program. DERCLEAR cleaning chemicals were included for when membrane cleaning is required.
Result
The wastewater/softened-water blend was returned to production at 75% recovery, reducing the plant's fresh-water demand and discharge load — contributing to both operating cost and environmental sustainability.
